I took this picture in color in February, 2014 and I thought it was cute, but not all that interesting. Today I attended a seminar by famed National Geographics photographer, Todd Gipstein. Among other topics, he showed the dramatic power of black and white photography. I converted this to B&W, made a few adjustments and produced what I think is a better, more iconic photo of the silhouette of a dad and daughter flying a kite together. I like the other elements as well; the kite, the shorebirds and the distant hills on the other shore. |
